1 October: After-Action Report for Law-Enforcement Officers
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
Assistant Sheriff Brett Zimmerman was one of the first responders to the most deadly mass shooting committed by an individual in U.S. history when on Oct. 1, 2017 a gunman opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip, leaving 59 people dead and more than 850 injured. The shooter fired more than 1,100 rounds from his 32nd-floor hotel room in the nearby Mandalay Bay resort, before being found dead by police from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Assistant Sheriff Zimmerman will discuss his on-the-ground experience, first-responder and community response, and lessons learned to improve active-shooter prevention and response.
